Calling all book worms! Do you have heaps of books piling up in your bedroom? Here’s some fashion know-how to help organize all that reading material. From Harry Potter novels to Scholastic paperbacks you got way back in fourth grade, there’s a stylish way to manage all your favorites.
1. Divide all of your books into two piles. One pile for nonfiction (remember, this is where the biographies and craft books go) and the other pile for fiction.
2. In the nonfiction pile, divide the books according to subjects. For example, put all your SAT study guides together in one pile and all your books about fashion designers in another.
3. If you’re feeling really productive, take it a step further and alphabetize within each of the subject groups you create. For example, in the group of fashion designer books, put the designers in ABC order (Armani, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Etro, Fendi, Gucci, etc.).
4. In the fiction pile, organize the books in alphabetical order according to the last name of the author (Rawls, Rowling, Twain, etc.).
5. Find a sturdy bookcase that will hold all of your books. PB Teen and Target are just a couple of places where you can find stylish bookcases. Look around at yard sales, flea markets, auctions, or your grandma’s attic, you may even find a vintage bookcase that you absolutely adore.

6. Place all of your organized nonfiction and fiction books onto the bookcase according to subject. Most books like to be stored upright, but very large books are best placed on their sides. If you have room, you may also want to dedicate one shelf to each group of books. Also, try not to squash books into shelves—you’ll damage them.
